A tree lined avenue leads to Chateau le Soulac’s entrance forecourt. Dating back to the 14C, this delightful property was a monastery prior to Napoleon III extending it to house one of his Favourites. The stables finally became a branch of the National Stud.
Renovated to create a family retreat, perfect for entertaining guests. Spacious reception areas include the barrel vaulted chapel, now a dining room. Ground floor accommodation is en suite in both main section and guest apartments created within a stable wing. Extensive modern kitchen links with summer dining area. Under floor heating adds to the excellent amenities offered. A gated and walled heated swimming pool (13.5m x 6m) leads off the stable wing. Within the grounds is a hard tennis court.
What we think: With plenty of room outside and inside this is a wonderful venue for a big house party or family gathering and the staff are used to coping with large numbers. Plenty of room for children to run about in the grounds, but do take notice of where they should and should not go. The swimming pool is enclosed and there is a good alarm system on the access doors to the pool area, solar heating is installed too. Rooms are spacious in the main house and the stable wing is just a short walk, across the gravel area outside the kitchen, with three separate guest suites.
